Inspector Abberline's house

This blog is about an exclusive doll and the doll house I am modifying for him: Inspector Frederick Abberline - or rather, Johnny Depp as Abberline in the movie From Hell. I got him custom made. The dollhouse was built by a local man who did Barbie dollhouses for Christmas years ago.

The true fate of the box is far worse: it was attacked and eaten by a giant Indian Ringneck.

The bird was not caught in action. But as he was plundering another dollhouse he was filmed and we were able to compare the beak traces of the small house damages to the Ripper case file and they matched.

Here is the box as it was found after the bird. Fortunately, it was not interested in eating the files, so what remained to do was to collect the papers and put them in a new box.

Inspector Abberline can now in peace continue solving the case at his desk.

Here is their bedroom.

This is the living room. I wonder how they could afford Leonardo Da Vinci's 'Guinevra Benchi'...

The kitchen seems to be a mess. Note that hateful yellow stove. It is going to be replaced soon. I mean, look at it: it is so low that only a midget could cook on it. Or perhaps it was the kid who did the cooking in this family?

What happened to them? No one knows for sure, but there are some hints flying about. Perhaps they fell victims to this odd group - two pirates and a Gypsy woman. Perhaps the family had treasures beside that invaluable painting. Did Captain Jack Sparrow have a map to these hidden treasures? We don't know for sure, but the Captain looks quite smug sitting in the living room with a charming blonde. But Jack Sparrow is not a man to value the comforts of the house. And thus Inspector Abberline moved in to the empty house.

Oh. and the painting. It was a fake, because it still hangs on the wall. Maybe there was no hidden treasures, but the family enrolled as pirates on the Black Pearl...

As you can see, he has been very thorough. He has saved letters, legal documents, investigation notes, newspaper clippings, maps drawn over the sites, handwritten notes, and a bunch of photos over both victims and suspects.

You get the size of these documents when comparing them to the picture above where Abberline has lifted the box on the table. They aren't just pictures, I have printed and cut out each one of them.

Indexing the files is a slow and meticulous task.

Quite often letter arrive, with either theories about the murderer, or sometimes old documents believed to be lost, resurface. even new documentation comes into existence. Mostly the leads turn into nothing, but anyway, everything has to be checked. Any small detail can be important in a murder investigation.

Having read the letter he starts to ponder over the murder locations and their connection. There sure must be some connection, some angle not yet noticed?

Yes, this is most definitely something deserving looking into! An new file is born.
